Leading Through Uncertainty Workshop Series

Date: Thursday, 15th October 2026
Time: 09:00 - 12:30
Location: The Catalyst
"Uncertainty is often processed as a threat, which can make confident and wrong, feel safer than honest and unsure" (Brené Brown & Adam Grant).
In order to successfully navigate personal and organisational change, today's leaders and people managers need to increase their tolerance for uncertainty by understanding the fear-based protections they default to, and staying open and curious in the face of threat.
In an effort to decrease anxiety, we reflexively reach for different forms of armour, such as:
- Overplanning
- Micro managing
- People-pleasing
- Procrastinating
- Fake clarity and quick answers
- Avoiding the conversation we need to have
We try to eliminate uncertainty, rather than vulnerably lead through it. Mostly, because we have never been taught how. Often because admitting fear or acknowledging it in others, was seen as weak and risking Pandora's box chaos. True leadership requires embracing uncertainty through vulnerability, rather than hiding behind a false sense of control. True leadership requires addressing your own tolerance for uncertainty and managing safety-seeking behaviours, through self awareness, compassion and accountability.
Leading Through Uncertainty is a new 3-part workshop series for business leaders and people managers navigating change in an increasingly unpredictable and complex world.
Across three practical sessions, we'll explore:
15 Oct 2026 | Session 1: Staying Grounded in Uncertainty
What happens inside me when I can't predict the outcome?
29 Oct 2026 | Session 2: Making Sense in Uncertainty
What are the facts? What are the stories I'm telling myself, and what might I be missing?
11 Nov 2026 | Session 3: Moving Forward with Courage
How do I take purposeful action when I can't know exactly how things will turn out?
This is not a conventional change management course or a lecture on leadership theory. It is a deeply reflective and individual exploration of how you can improve your tolerance for uncertainty, make better decisions and maintain connection with others. It will include:
- Personal reflections on your default responses
- Contemplative space to examine your individual challenges
- Experiential practice of self regulation
- Opportunities to experiment with different responses between sessions.
