Sarah Grant joined the Scaleup North East programme in 2019 to help cope with the rapid growth of her business, My Healthcare Recruit.
The Newcastle-based firm uses video CVs and video interviewing to give employers a hiring advantage when recruiting international permanent nurses. Clients gain access to qualified talent efficiently and affordably and can find the right cultural and quality fit for their teams.
Sarah has been working alongside Scaleup North East Partner, Craig Huntingdon, to navigate her journey of rapid growth and overcome the typical challenges such businesses face along the way.
In the past year alone the firm has deployed over 250 international nurses to the UK, an achievement they are extremely proud of. The team has grown from one to six employees and the internal processes now benefit from a more streamlined approach. When developing a functional specification for a new CRM system, Sarah was able to leverage the support of an RTC North Service Design Consultant.
For My Healthcare Recruit, managing cash flow effectively, recruiting a team, and ensuring they could scale their operations without compromising the quality of service, were key priorities. Sarah has highly praised the tailored nature of the support she received from Scaleup North East.
Recalling the team’s support, Sarah Grant, managing director of My Healthcare Recruit, said: “Scaleup North East has been a really invaluable source of support for my business. Craig has a lot of experience in managing and developing real businesses and had both a wealth of knowledge and wisdom he could share, but also relevant connections who he was able to introduce me to.”
Sarah has gone on to recommend the Scaleup North East programme to others looking to grow their business. She believes it doesn’t make sense to start from scratch each time when professionals who have been there and done it can get you on the right track in half the time.
Discussing the team’s recent rapid growth, Craig Huntingdon, Scaleup North East Partner said:
“My Healthcare Recruit were facing a number of challenges that were typical of businesses in the rapid growth phase and compounded with very limited management resources within the business. I was able to help Sarah identify the key priorities and shorten the learning curve by sharing similar experiences and drawing on my network of trusted contacts. Sarah’s drive and ambition will ensure that My Healthcare Recruit continues to grow rapidly and adapts to the changing conditions in the sector as a result of COVID-19.”
RTC North is delivering Scaleup North East in conjunction with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). The programme is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is aimed at supporting North East-based businesses that can demonstrate both the hunger and the potential to achieve high levels of growth.
