A North East based events company are on course to hit their £1 million turnover after seeing their client base double.
Hen and Stag specialise in package weekends in the UK and after receiving support from the Scaleup North East programme are about to expand into four new UK cities.
The company has recently received a status of a Limited Company, covering a total of seven UK destinations, adding Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham and Birmingham to their portfolio, which has nearly doubled their client base from the same point last year.
Delivered by RTC North in partnership with the North East Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Scaleup North East forms an integral part of the North East Growth Hub and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Local Growth Fund (LGF). The programme is aimed at supporting businesses that can demonstrate both the hunger and the potential to achieve high levels of growth.
Scaleup North East and partner Craig Huntingdon supported business director Stephen McHugh as the company embarked on their scaling journey and assisted with guidance and first-hand advice, Stephen said:
“The Scaleup programme opened new doors for us. We received first class advice and guidance from Craig.
“Craig was also present during our finance pitches and added significant credibility. Furthermore, the leadership workshops have been fundamental in my transition from manager to leader and we now have company core values that we implement into everything we do.”
The pair formulated a structured approach to the business’ scaleup plan and Hen and Stag are on course to go national next year. This will include increasing staff count to 16 FTE's, relocating to premium serviced offices and serving over 20 UK destinations. Stephen added:
“As with any growth project, the journey has been difficult with many challenges. Having an experienced scale-up partner on board has made all the difference however, as Craig has been there and done it all before. Drawing from his extensive experience has been invaluable and I've learned so much during the process.”
