Ambitious and scaling business across the region can learn the secrets to world class performance through a new two-day World Class Business Masterclasses, delivered by the hugely experienced performance coach Simon Hartley.

Small groups of senior executives can learn how to develop a world class mindset, adopt Olympic thinking into their organisation, build successful teams and develop world class leadership and these unique events are the brainchild of Simon Hartley, founder of Be World Class, Scaleup North East Solutions Provider and speaker on the Should I Scale Or Should I Grow? series of events the programme delivers around the North East LEP region.

Hartley has worked with and studied some of the best in the world. As well as providing sport psychology support to Team GB Olympians and various England Teams, he also helped both Durham and Yorkshire County Cricket Clubs to lift back-to-back championships.  He says, “During day one we’re focusing on helping business leaders to develop characteristics such as mental toughness and resilience in their teams, by applying methods from elite sport psychology. We also look, in detail, at how to adopt the principles that Olympic programmes use to identify and recruit talent, then turn potential into results”

On day two, the focus shifts to developing world class teams and leadership; learning how teams such as SAS units, Red Arrows teams, Americas Cup yacht crews and Formula One pit crews become world class. I share the six characteristics of world class teams and how businesses adopt those. We’ll also draw on insights from world class leaders such as Michelin star chefs, polar expedition leaders and elite special forces commanders.”

Jason Legget, Director of Scaleup North East said, “This is an ideal opportunity for businesses who are scaling to take important time to focus on leadership development, to refine their skills and refocus their efforts across the business to achieve more defined and successful outcomes”.

Jason Smith from Lookers plc, said, “I’ve learned a whole new level of sophistication in management style, structure and getting the best from our people!”.

Becky Dam, co-founder of Leeds-based Magpie Communications said, “It was really valuable to work in such a small group with other business leaders. We got so much from one another, as well as from Simon, and came away with action plans”.

Following a highly successful series in 2018, Be World Class are delivering the Masterclass on 21 February and  14 March at Bowcliffe Hall near Wetherby.
