Scaleup businesses represent less than 1 per cent of the North East’s business population, yet deliver more than 33 per cent of new additional jobs and economic growth, they are therefore key to delivering more and better jobs.
We want to get behind these businesses, to help them to clear the decks of the things that get in the way, and to unlock growth.
Scaleup North East works with businesses that can demonstrate both the hunger and potential to achieve high levels of growth.
Whilst we can’t achieve growth for you, we will do everything in our power to help. The support we give is led by the needs of your business, not by a hidden agenda.
Our commitment to you is to get behind your business, investing time, energy and resources to help you to become the best that you can be.
We know one size doesn’t fit all, so the support we offer is tailored to individual businesses and a dedicated Scaleup Partner provides one to one guidance on how to scale sustainably, build capacity and create resilience.
Your partner will work with you to achieve defined objectives, ensuring you are taking the actions required to scale. They will be your go to person throughout the process, both someone you can trust and someone who will challenge you, keeping you on your toes and making sure that you follow through and keep focused on the end goal.
The only thing we require from you is to have the potential to be amazing - simple!
Scaleup North East [www.scaleupnortheast.co.uk] is delivered by RTC North as an integral part of the North East Growth Hub, and is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
The multimillion-pound programme aims to create 6,000 new jobs and boost the number of scaleup businesses in the region by 50 per cent by 2024, and we are already seeing great progress towards this.
The ScaleUp Institute recently revealed that the number of fast-growing ambitious businesses with leaders hungry for success is increasing across the North East, according to its latest research based on the latest 2017 ONS data.
There are now 820 companies in the region that meet the definition of scaleup because they have increased turnover or employment by more than 20 per cent annually – that’s 17 per cent more than we had in 2014. North East scaleups are employing a total of 74,000 staff and their turnover is worth £9.5 billion.
Jamie Ollivere, managing director at RTC, says: “If you can demonstrate growth year-on-year; are based in the NELEP area; have an annual turnover of less than £50m; have fewer than 250 employees, and have the drive and determination to grow your business to exponential heights – we want to hear from you.
“If you don’t quite meet the criteria, aren’t quite ready to scale, but have ambitions to do so in the future and need a bit of guidance on how to bridge that gap, our two-day scaleup boot camp could be just for you. We’ve tailored Scaleup North East to capture the enthusiasm, grit and determination of our leaders at every level”.
